So the planning stages have been going well and this looks like the house we would like to build onto the small cottage/shed we will be moving to the new homestead. It's easily within our price range, build-able by us, and certainly fits into the beautiful setting it will be moving to. As the kidlets move on, this size home will be good for up-keep and cleaning. It will be energy efficient,and easy to heat with a wood stove. And with the plans we have for 12v/propane appliances, on demand heat for water,solar panel/battery/propane/wind power, the cost to live here off- grid will be minimal. The woods will be inside the house, with the floor to roof windows, on the prow front. This is going to be a good move, I think.
We will be keeping chickens, rabbits, and goats here, along with the bees. Keeping everyone but the bees OUT of the garden will be a chore, but worth it! Our small orchard is coming with us as well. I can't wait!
